U1 Urethane Adhesive - Quick Setting

U1 Urethane Adhesive - Quick Setting
  • Highly flexible

  • Abrasion resistant

U1 Urethane Adhesive is a fast-setting adhesive that forms flexible, impact-resistant bonds. U1 bonds most substrates, especially plastics, wood, urethane foam, metal, glass, and leather. Once cured, U1 provides excellent abrasion, chemical, and water resistance. U1 is also effective in joining dissimilar materials where different thermal expansion might be a problem. U1 is a two-component urethane (1:1 mix ratio) that comes in easy-to-use cartridges.
Cartridges require an applicator. One single-use nozzle is included with each cartridge. Additional nozzles are available: 50ml nozzles, 250ml nozzles.

Application instructions

50ml Cartridge

Wear gloves.

(1) Place cartridge into applicator and secure.
(2) Remove end cap by turning counter-clockwise.
(3) Dispense and discard small amount of adhesive to verify free flow in even ration.
(4) Attach mixing nozzle.
(5) Prepare surfaces: roughen and clean surfaces to remove all dust, dirt and grease. For highest bond strength, chemical cleaning is required (if possible, use acetone or isopropyl alcohol).
(6) Dispense and apply adhesive to clean surfaces, then join surfaces and secure in place until adhesive sets (about 20 min. @ 75F ; higher temperatures will reduce worklife). Maximum shear strength is obtained with a 3-5 mil bond line.
(7) Allow adhesive to cure @ 60F or higher and do not allow movement between the surfaces. Curing will be faster if heat up to 200F is applied. Full cure is 24 hours @ 75F.
(8) Use ketone solvent (such as methyl ethyl ketone) to clean up uncured adhesive.
(9) Store partially used cartridge with nozzle attached at 70F or below.
(10) Replace nozzle upon next use.

250ml Cartridge

Wear gloves.

(1) Hold cartridge in upright position and unscrew plastic nut.
(2) Remove plug insert and make sure openings are clear.
(3) Attach mixing nozzle and secure with plastic nut.
(4) Place cartridge into applicator (works with standard caulking gun and rod-driven pneumatic caulking tools) and secure.
(5) Dispense and discard a small amount of adhesive to make sure both parts are mixing properly in nozzle.
(6) Prepare surfaces: roughen and clean surfaces to remove all dust, dirt and grease. For highest bond strength, chemical cleaning is required (if possible, use acetone or isopropyl alcohol).
(7) Dispense and apply adhesive to clean surfaces, then join surfaces and secure in place until adhesive sets (about 20 min. @ 75F ; higher temperatures will reduce worklife). Maximum shear strength is obtained with a 3-5 mil bond line.
(8) Allow adhesive to cure @ 60F or higher and do not allow movement between the surfaces. Curing will be faster if heat up to 200F is applied. Full cure is 24 hours @ 75F.
(9) Use ketone solvent (such as methyl ethyl ketone) to clean up uncured adhesive.
(10) Store partially used cartridge with nozzle attached.
(11) Replace nozzle upon next use.

Safety Information

PRECAUTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Provide adequate ventilation to control vapor. Avoid breathing of vapors created during curing. Curing ovens must be exhausted to outdoors or to suitable emission control equipment. Do not recirculate emissions into workroom air. Avoid eye contact with or breathing in particulate from cutting, grinding or sanding of cured material. Provide appropriate exhaust measures when cutting, grinding or sanding cured material. Keep container closed when not in use.

SUGGESTED FIRST AID: Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water. If irritation persists, seek medical advice. Skin Contact: Wash skin with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. If symptoms occur, seek medical advice. Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If irritation persists, seek medical advice. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Drink two glasses of water. Seek medical advice.

HANDLING SAFETY:
Part A (resin) contains substances that may cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritation.

Part B (curing agent) contains isocyanates and other substances that may cause eye and skin irritation. Isocyanate vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation.
