Threadlocker

SmartAdhesives' threadlocker adhesives seal the threads of screws into metal objects, especially securing nuts to bolts. Our threadlockers are applied primarily with metal-to-metal connections. Ideal for building manufacturing equipment, threadlockers are also appropriate for car engines and other metal items that need to withstand continuous vibrations. We make many types of thread lockers -- some create bonds that can be easily broken, others create bonds that are virtually indestructible.

Once cured, our threadlockers are vibration, chemical, and heat resistant. They are solventless and also act as sealants, preventing screws from rusting and leaking.

Things to know about threadlocker adhesives

About Threadlockers

Threadlockers are also known as anaerobic adhesives because they begin curing with the absence of oxygen. These adhesives make perfect locking agents for metal threaded fasteners because they adhere well to metals and, once cured, they are flexible and chemical resistant. They can be formulated in various strengths, depending on whether the fastener requires future removal.

How They Work

Thread locking adhesives begin rapid polymerization with the absence of oxygen. They have particularly good adhesion to metals and will cure even at low temperatures once air is absent.

Tips

Always apply adhesive to the threads of both nut and screw, and make sure they are tight fitting. During storage, always keep at least half the bottle empty and filled with air. Otherwise, the adhesive will start curing in the bottle.
